Advent Lessons and Carols Service: Sunday, December 7 at 4 pm
Plan to attend this beautiful service of readings and music highlighting the prophesies of Jesus. The music will feature the combined choirs of Christ Episcopal, Church of the Epiphany, Euclid, and Church of the Good Shepherd, Lyndhurst.
Christ Church Green Group
This group will gather for its first brain-storming session on Sunday, December 7 in the Library, after the 10:30 am service (and after we have decorated the Advent Peace Tree in the Great Hall). All are welcome to join! If you have a keen interest in environmental sustainability issues, or if you are just curious about what people are doing to live more lightly on the planet, please plan to attend.
Advent Quiet Day will be Saturday, Dec. 13 from 9 am to noon
A series of reflections, meditations, and quiet time will help us prepare for the Messiah. You are welcome to join us for as little as a half hour segment or for the entire morning.
Saving Jesus: An Exploration of Jesus Christ for the Third Millennium
(Alternate program offerings on Oct. 12 and Nov. 30)
People know that at its core, Christianity has something good to offer humanity. At the same time, many have a sense that they are alone in being a “thinking” Christian and that “salvaging” Christianity is a hopeless task. What is needed is a safe environment where people have permission to ask the questions they’ve always wanted to ask but have been afraid to voice for fear of being thought a heretic.
This 12 session DVD-based series includes video presentations from Marcus Borg, John Dominic Crossan, Matthew Fox, Amy-Jill Levine, James Forbes and a host of others.
Christ Church’s Annual Christmas Cookie Walk
Join us for our third annual Cookie Walk on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 am to 2 pm. For just $9 per pound, you can mix and match 30+ varieties of Christmas cookies! These homemade goodies make wonderful gifts - or a great take-home snack.
If you are interested in either baking a batch of cookies (**no chocolate chip**) or helping on the day of the sale, please contact Lynn Winkelman at 216-831-2134
Advent Lessons and Carols Service: Sunday, December 7 at 5 pm
Three Episcopal parishes will collaborate on an Advent Lessons and Carols service on Sunday, December 7th at 4 PM at Christ Church in Shaker Heights. Participating churches are the Church of the Epiphany in Euclid, Church of the Good Shepherd in Lyndhurst and Christ Church. This collaborative service brings together three parishes in the Cleveland East Deanery for worship and fellowship.
Participants in this Advent Lessons and Carols will include choirs and singers, lay readers and the three clergy of the parishes. It is hoped that these three parishes will rotate hosting this service in future years and even invite other parishes to join in this and other collaborative efforts. A reception will follow the service. All are invited to attend this beautiful service of readings and music preparing us for the coming of the Christ. For more information call Christ Church at 216-991-3432.
